How it works

From the first timer to a paid invoice

All features ↗
  1. Step 01

    Start before you forget

Pick a project and start the timer. Stint keeps counting when you close the app, even without a connection.

    • Start a project from your lock screen.
    • Pause for a break without closing the entry.
    • Add a note while the work is fresh.
    What it does

  2. Step 02

    Put the missing hour back

See the whole week, adjust a start time and add the work you forgot to track. The original note stays with the entry.

    • Edit start and end times directly.
    • Move an entry to another project.
    • Add a missed entry without starting a timer.
    What it does
    Stint demo This week screen: 31h 30m, Your tracked time. Monday 6h 30m; Tuesday 7h 00m; Wednesday 5h 45m; Thursday 6h 15m; Friday 6h 00m
  3. Step 03

    Deal with the open timer

A desktop reminder asks about idle minutes when you return. Keep them, remove them or assign them to a different project.

    • Choose the idle threshold in settings.
    • Review before any time is removed.
    • Turn reminders off whenever you prefer.

  4. Step 04

    Set the rate once

Give each client an hourly rate. New invoice drafts use that rate, with a separate override for projects that need one.

    • Set client and project rates.
    • Choose a currency for each client.
    • Keep non-billable time out of invoice totals.
    What it does
    Stint demo Clients screen: 4 clients, Rates saved per client. Harbor Books $80 / h; Northline Studio $95 / h; Ellis & Reed $75 / h; Studio admin Non-billable
  5. Step 05

    Turn hours into a draft

Choose a client and a date range. Review the time lines, add tax if needed and export a PDF for your usual billing process.

    • Group entries by project or date.
    • Review quantities and rates before export.
    • Export a PDF without sending email.
    What it does
Stint demo Invoice draft screen: $3,640, Review before you send. Cover design · 28h $2,240; Production · 12h $960; Tax · example $440
